skygiants: Nice from Baccano! in post-explosion ecstasy (maybe too excited . . .?)

I meant to do a whole Festivids rec post before leaving for Costa Rica, but then I ran out of time, so it'll have to wait. Instead I would just like to take a moment to shout out to my wonderful gift vid: Take It Off, which combines two of my absolute favorite things, bouncy dance pop music and the 1970s film Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Swing dancing! Witchcraft! People turning into rabbits right and left! EVERYBODY TAKE IT OFF so all your clothing can become enchanted weaponry in the fight against Nazi oppression! It's so good, everyone please watch it immediately.

In other news: I'm going to Costa Rica until next Sunday, internet status questionable! Everyone have fun for the next week and try not to get hit by a blizzard.

Man, watching that vid, I realize I've forgotten a lot about that movie. Did they have a real cat actor? stunt-cat?

Even modern animatronic cats are hella creepy, so I can't imagine what one from mumbledy years ago would look like.

(At first I was thinking: you could make a cats fur look like that by getting your fingers wet and twisting it up a bit? But then your entire shoot would be the cat grooming themselves. So it must have been a cat that was just like, "fuck grooming." I guess? I am stuck on this detail.)

The only thing I remember about Bedknobs and Broomsticks is that it creeped me right the fuck out as a small child, but that vid is awesome.

That's delightful. Also, I don't think I had ever before noticed than Emelius' tapestry credit is a jester, juggling, but it makes sense; it's one of his few real, unpretentious talents, at least until the cat gets underfoot.

Travel safe!

(she says, about the movie with animated fish dancing.)

That was basically the way my reactions worked in 2006.

I admit that wasn't the "Take It Off" I was expecting.
