Nov. 18th, 2006 04:38 pmOkay, y'all - small ethical dilemma.
I've been working on this show, technically as co-costume designer (not the costume job I am paid for - this is purely extracurricular); the other costume designer has been doing most of the costume accumulation, and my job was to make the one constructed piece, a floor-length blue gown for the villainess. So, I construct the gown, but the actress doesn't like the shape of it; she wants to see if she can purchase something different over Thanksgiving break. If she finds something she likes better, she'll use that instead.
I spent a fair amount of time on the gown, but, you know, pieces getting cut that you've spent a lot of time on is sort of something you deal with when you work in costumes. I'm just wondering: since the gown is pretty much all I did for the show, if it gets cut, is it appropriate to e-mail to ask that my name be taken off the program? The intent is to give full credit to the other costume designer, who deserves it, but I'm worried that it would come off more on the bitchy and bitter side, like "well, I don't want to be associated with your stupid show anyways!" Which is certainly not the intent.
And now for something completely different:
* Wow, they really are all blondes.
* The dramatic transitions make me giggle every time. It's like they want to be Law and Order, but artsier. They've even got a signature noise!
* Why did Blonde #1 get in the car with Angel? For a show that emphasises loneliness and lack of trust so INCREDIBLY much, these people all seem to be awfully, um, trusting . . .
* On a similar note, it cracks me up in 1.3 when Angel crawls out of the sea at the incredibly crowded beach and nobody turns a hair. I mean, if it were me, I feel like I'd at least feel compelled to ask "Hey, aren't you that dude who just knocked someone over with his van and then burst into flame?"
* Cordelia is awfully entertaining, and I enjoy her scenes, but I wish every so often she would actually fire that crossbow. Or . . . exhibit competence, because we know that she possesses it. High SAT scores! I do love her blase Sunnydale attitude, though.
* I am wondering if they are going to have an 'Angel is gay' joke in every episode. So far it's three for three.
* This is not to say that the 'Angel is gay' jokes don't make me laugh, because they so do. I'm an easy sell.
* Oz makes me happy. I am glad he got to save the day!
