skygiants: jang man wol lifts opera glasses and smiles (opera glasses)
[personal profile] skygiants
In last week's Hotel del Luna costume polls, this extremely relatable look claimed the lead among a relatively narrow field of competition:

However, having successfully rested and recovered, Jang Man Wol is back in form this week with a full pallette of exquisitely coordinated looks, accompanied by an exciting variety of mix-and-match accessories!

1.

Starting off very strong with some potentially scandalous black lace - for a business meeting, no less! Can't wear suits to the office every day.

I think what we've actually got here is a nude/pink layer under the world's most gothic sailor dress? It is undoubtedly a Look and the stiletto boots are a fantastic addition.

2.

On the one hand, this more professional look is definitely a little boring by comparison and I don't love the silhouette.

On the other hand, I am genuinely very impressed that she managed to perfectly coordinate her dress and her florist - the pink rose match is terrifyingly exact.

3.

Before we get to the front view here, I just need you all to admire with me the careful arrangement of her incredible ponytail over the back of the chair for Absolute Maximum Drama.

OKAY, LET'S BRING IT IN. The dress! The heels! The sunglasses! The double necklace! The incredible sass! (Her poor manager does, in fact, claim Harvard as his alma mater, and every single joke on this brings balm to my Boston-located soul.) I would ... probably skip the white tights, personally, if I were going for a sunbathing picnic, but I appreciate that this is her Outfit and she is not going to alter it for mere concerns like 'practicality'...

...especially when the tights are required to pull the outfit together with the gloves, the truly ridiculous pearl ring, and the OPERA GLASSES.

4.

Okay, playtime's over; we're back for some customer service face with what I personally consider to be the best of the professional looks for this episode.

The pink suit and the lace are great in and of themselves, but what truly makes this are a.) the waistcoat and b.) the CRAVAT. If you'd described a look to me as 'halfway between a Regency dandy and an eighties flight attendant' I probably would have been a little dubious, but I genuinely think she's pulling this off.

Better with the suit jacket for the full flight attendant effect, or without so her fabulous floofy sleeves can fly free? I don't know, pals, you tell me.

5.

Have no concerns, however, that Jang Man Wol is all work and no play -- for this shopping spree, we're switching straight into a direct Breakfast at Tiffany's homage.

I sincerely urge you to take every single piece of jewelry into account when voting. ([insert Partizan joke here for the three of you who will appreciate it])

6.

She wears this dressing gown for all of two seconds, mostly while holding other dresses up in front of it, but it's perfectly nice and I include it for completionism.

7.

Okay, here's the thing: I truly do love this color red on her and the sleeves are amazing, and normally this would be a strong contender! But compared to some of the other outfits in this episode? I just don't know.

I mean, the other thing is, she's attending a wedding, so I kind of expected she'd be pulling out all the stops. On the other hand, I guess it is polite to make an effort not to outshine the bride.

Also, under most circumstances, I'd be all about the black jacket with the red dress ... but the gauzy sleeves are absolutely the outfit's best feature and the jacket completely obscures them ... ah well.

8.

Has it really been a full episode without a black widow outfit? With five minutes left, we better remedy that quick!

The black suit in and of itself? Fine, good. The black suit crowned with a mourning chauffeur's cap? INCREDIBLE.

(Technically this episode contained one additional look not picture here, but at this point I'm using my future knowledge to reserve it, since it's a flashback outfit that I know will recur later in better lighting and with more possibility for full-body screencaps, and I want it to have its day in the sun. >.>)

I went with regency flight attendant because it should not work. But it does.

A strong showing this week! In the end I had to go with gothic sailor, because I would like a whole show of sailor senshi dressed exactly like that, but I also loved the Breakfast at Tiffany's homage, the gauzy red sleeves (they might have won if she hadn't tragically covered them with a jacket), and of course I'm a sucker for the black leather chauffeur's cap.

look. LOOK. SHOULD I love the Regency Flight Attendant look as much as I do? no. Do I have a distressing fondness for dress suits and lace cravats? yes.

I was torn between the pink picnic outift and Breakfast at Tiffany's (homage and Subway PPL at the same time!), but the opera glasses and sunglasses tipped it over to picnic for me.

Ooh I can't wait for the flashback outfit to appear--I was planning to vote for it this time, but I fully agree that it deserves its space to shine!

I was in exactly the same position and came to the same conclusion but it was a tough choice, the Breakfast at Tiffanies homage was perfectly executed. There was just something about the shade of pink in the picnic outfit and then all the accesories...

If not for those two I might've been tempted by the red dress also; it was a strong field this week!

That's not a regency flight attendant outfit it's Miles Edgeworth cosplay.

Just out of curiosity, does she normally have more than ten fingers?

Otherwise I expect we would reliably be seeing her with twenty fingers and two necks to allow her to really express her desire for ornamentation.

It was not clear from context!

This week's choice was genuinely difficult! I want to own the gothic sailor dress, but the WAISTCOAT. (The opera glasses were tempting, though.)

More to the point: are you enjoying the show?

Oh I'm so glad to hear that! I was looking for something to watch now that I've finished Crash Landing on You, which I loved, but I wasn't sure because the Hong sisters don't always work for me. I really look forward to reading your post!

#3 for me for sure, for the color alone. That is a great color and fits her so well, plus excellent accessories.

Close runner up in #5, because that ensemble is gorgeous. And a special mention to the cravat and waistcoat in #4, which would get my vote if it were a different color (either the suit part or the blouse and cravat part, but white with that light pink is not for me. Especially not when my other options include Excellent Bold Pink, Excellent Bold Red, and Gorgeous Black Dresses.)

I am IN LOVE with that chauffeur hat, but when you put it up against the sunglasses and opera glasses and demure white gloves with that bold hot pink from the perfect picnic, well... I'm only human, you know?

I love the concept of regency flight attendant. If the suit had been a different color, maybe a powder blue, I might well have gone for that one. Breakfast at Tiffany's is amazing, but I feel like the jewelry in perfect picnic is more visually interesting.

I went gothic sailor but both regency flight attendant and gauzy red sleeves were STRONG contenders.
