May. 24th, 2020 12:30 pmAfter tied results from the week before, last week's costume polls once again saw a decisive victory with this fantastic ensemble:

This week we've got six outfits with, astonishingly, not a single black widow look among them! On the one hand I love her black widow looks, on the other hand I respect that this is probably character growth.
1.

This headscarf and cap-sleeves dress combo is extremely charming in and of itself -- she looks like the star of a 1940s roadtrip rom-com and I'm enjoying it very much.

The scarf is already a great addition, but to complete the look, there's also an adorable box purse AND the return of the gorgeous opera glasses. (And can you count Bartender Kim's peak vacation outfit as an additional accessory? I think perhaps you can.)
2.

While I think we can emphatically confirm that this statement is a lie, I'll admit that this dressing gown itself isn't the most exciting to me -- the chiffon is pretty but a little bit plastic-y for my taste.

However, once you add a signature hat ...

... or maybe a second, more floral dressing gown on top ...

... and an incredibly beautiful dangly hairstick ....

... and possibly a pair of cute glasses for the coup de grace, it definitely demonstrates that the right accessories can pull any outfit into something special.
3.

Jumping forward a few decades in style here, Jang Man Wol is definitely ready for some eighties clubbing in this incredible black-and-blue tiger-striped number.

Unfortunately, since this is the year 2020 and there are no eighties clubs to be found, she's going to have to settle for wandering alone on the moors with large bottles of soju, casting a dramatic silhouette and asking local deities for bar snacks. Definitely both a mood and a look! The club is wherever you want it to be if you just believe in yourself!

One more with good lighting so we can all appreciate the perfect match between her nails and her lipstick.
4.

And now for another drastic sartorial mood shift with this hot pink princess look.

The rhinestones and the sweeping skirt are great, but for me it's all about the details here -- I really like the lace overlay pattern, and, once again, the nail work is truly sublime.
5.

Is this impeccable matching red dress and hat a new style for Jang Man Wol? No, not really. Does she look absolutely incredible in this color? Obviously. Why mess with what works?

I also really like the double pearl necklace: simple, elegant, just a little bit more than anyone else would do to remind us that this is, after all, Jang Man Wol.
6.

To be honest, I'm a little on the fence about whether to include this outfit at all, since technically Jang Man Wol has never worn it and it occurs only in our love interest's haunted inner mind theater.

And, I mean, yes, stark all-white does make for a really good dramatic backdrop against which to highlight the process of slowly dissolving into the aether, but do we really think this woman would go to face her execution and dissolution without a single piece of jewelry?
