Dear Yuletide author,

Thank you so much for writing for me! In all the years I have done Yuletide, I have never failed to be overjoyed by the gifts I've received; if you write something that makes you happy, I guarantee I will be delighted with it also.

I am always interested in ensemble and sibling and family stories, community-building and community dynamics, revolutionary politics, gender and performance and identity, and the messy intersection of romance with other passions, politics and artistic ambitions! For my requests this year I'm generally more interested in expanding on canon than in going AU in either plot or setting, but I'm broadly pro crossover if you have a brilliant idea for one.

Some of these canons deal with some pretty serious topics, and dark themes are A-OK if it makes sense for the story, but I tend not to be into graphic and gratuitous violence. I'm happy for romances to include sexual content but I'd prefer it wasn't the entire point of the fic.

And now for the specific requests:

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci - Diana Wynne Jones
Characters: Nan Pilgrim, Charles Morgan, Nirupam Singh, Brian Wentworth

I love all the horrible children from this novel, but have always found the ending of the book a little bit dissatisfying. I'd be happy for any fic focusing on any of the kids, solo or in combination, but would especially love postcanon fic that deals with the memories & magic issue, whether it's an immediately postcanon story about the kids trying to integrate into their new lives, or something that picks up when they're adults and they somehow regain the memories they've lost. (Also, Estelle isn't in the tagset, but I love her equally as much so if you want to focus on her instead of all the others, that too would be perfectly fine by me!) I'd be interested in a fic that gets them back involved in the broader Chrestomanci universe somehow, but am also perfectly happy to see them continuing to navigate their own normal (?) (or not so?) world.

The Message - Mai Jia
Characters: Li Ningyu (The Message), Gu Xiaomeng (The Message)

This book drops several hints that Something was going on between these two women during their whole fraught revolutionary spy vs. spy situation and that Something was quite possibly gay, but no one who's telling the story in the present day is going to admit it. Fortunately, that's what fanfic is for! I would love any exploration of the layers of relationship between Li Ningyu and Gu Xiaomeng -- feel free to take what Gu Xiaomeng says in the novel as truth or go as meta as you want with uncovering more layers to the narrative. Feel free to explore any relationship dynamic between them, whether it's enemies/friends/lovers/It's More Complicated Than Any Of That -- I'm excited to see more of these incredibly compelling women regardless of how you want to play it!

As You Like It - Shakespeare
Characters: Rosalind, Celia, Oliver, Orlando

I love this stupid play but it makes no god dang sense. I'd love to see fic that leans into various themes of queerness and gender performance and role-swapping in the play; I also keep coming back to the idea of whether it's possible to do anything with the notion of Lesbian Oliver. I do tend to read Celia as pining for Rosalind but I keep hoping to be sold on a compelling Celia/Oliver! I don't need to be sold on Rosalind/Orlando, I love them already, I'm just always wanting more gender than any production I've ever seen seems to want to give me. But I would be excited for a character study, a close look at various interpersonal dynamics during & after the play, or general Comical Shakespearean Hijinks!

Y llegaron de Noche - TV
Characters: Pablo Álvarez Rubio, Carmen Guerrero, José Soriano Viosca, Cecilia Ramírez

This historical backstage comedy about Draculas was my favorite new show of the year and I would genuinely be delighted with any fic for it whatsoever! I'm really charmed by perennial high-charisma supporting actors Pablo and Carmen and the dynamic they have together by the end of the show; I'd love anything showing how their connection plays out over the course of their careers, whether that means that they end up together, that Pablo pines forever, or that they support each other as ride-or-die colleagues in a cutthroat business. I also of course support José in his Seward/Seward romance, it is the cutest thing in the world and fic about this would delight me. And then, of course, I would very much like to see Cecelia succeed in the director's chair and take Hollywood by storm! But honestly, I'm extremely weak for any kind of historical Hollywood trivia and backstage shenanigans; if you're not interested in postcanon, please also feel free to give me missing scenes from the filming of Dracula or any other sort of moviemaking Situations and I'll be absolutely delighted by it.

정년이 ㅣ Jeong Nyeon: The Star is Born (TV)
Characters: Heo Yeongseo

I love all the lesbians in this very lesbian drama but Heo Yeongseo is my favorite; I loved watching this very stiff, proud, emotionally incompetent young woman come dramatically alive whenever she got to go onstage in full drag. I'm interested in her relationships with all the other cast members and happy to ship her with just about any of them too -- in particular, if Yeongseo and Jeongnyeon want to rescue Jooran to get their threesome back together for a fix-it fic, by all means I'm here for it -- and I love some of the stuff the show does with the heightened emotions of performance and roleplay and character bleed if you want to play around with that, but I'm also really interested just in a character study of Yeongseo herself. I'd really appreciate fic that explores more of her figuring out what her career and future looks like postcanon, or delves a bit into her feelings about gender and theater and what gukgeuk means to her and why she's so drawn to this art form in particular.
