Jan. 26th, 2007 02:23 pmSince I've just gone through to pester everyone else: Meme!
Reply to this and I will:
1) Tell you why I friended you.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
4) Tell my first memory of you.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7) In return, you MUST spread this disease in your lj.
With caveat that the answer to 1) is pretty much always going to be "Because you friended me hi!", due to my lack of initiative.
Am now off to comb Palo Alto for rental copies of The Emperor's New Groove, as roommate has not seen it and library does not have it, both of which make me go >:O. Will respond upon return!

Date: 2007-01-27 01:04 am (UTC)1) Because you friended me! Hi!
2) Re: Your Brains. There's something about zombie songs.
3) You alerted me to the existence of musical versions of things I would never have thought existed ever. To which I say: >:D!
4) No way is the the first memory, but the first that comes to mind - hiding under tables from demonic marriages.
5) Pumpkin! I don't know why. Possibly something having to do with It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
Alternately, a whatever.
6) What did you think of the way HHGtG (series) ended?

Date: 2007-01-27 01:10 am (UTC)2) "Magic Lantern Butterfly Moth", from Utena. (Mostly I just really like the title. I think it suits!)
3) You are one of the best people ever to go museum-ing with. SILLY EXTINCT ANIMALS AHOY.
4) "OMG a character who actually does the French accent with their French character! Now I feel all lame for eschewing it! . . . she's totally cool, though."
5) . . . if you're just in it for the fruit, I'll be letting you down if I just say flamingoes, won't I.
Um. Snozzberries!
6) What was the first role you ever played onstage? And what was your favorite?

Date: 2007-01-27 01:21 am (UTC)2) "Ribbons Undone." Shocker, I know.
3) You would totally have gotten to the same place I did re: puppet Alain. I just blurted it out first and therefore get the blame for eternity. *tragic*
I am also often in awe of the way your mind works, and I mean that in a good way.
4) Del and Meg did a thread. It was a long, long time ago - like, in my first month of playing ever - and I had no idea what the Endless were except from what I knew of the game, and I was intimidated and fascinated both. But the first time I really remember talking to you was much later, and there was great wrong involved with knitting needles and the Wheel Wot Weaves, and though I was frightened still it was in entirely different, much more gleeful ways!
5) Grapefruit! :D!
6) I can see a lot of you in everyone you write. (It helps that your style is very distinctive.) Which of yours would you say you identify with the least?

Date: 2007-01-27 01:38 am (UTC)2) Muppet Treasure Island. I don't know why exactly - it reminds me of your sense of humor and makes me giggle. Also, "Wrapped Up In Books," Belle and Sebastian.
3) You were the first Milliways mod that I got unscareded-of. You are so sweet and friendly that it is really impossible to be. And someday I will get you a working copy of Into the Woods!
4) I think the first time I actually talked with you, in comment form, had to do with a meme with wanting characters and Torquil. To which I went: "Clearly a woman of taste!" Although my actual response was probably more just like "EEEEE SOMEBODY KNOWS BOOK & TORQUIL," but let us pretend I had something resembling coherency.
5) One of those star-shaped fruits that I can't remember the name of.
6) Which came first: the chicken or the egg? And by this I mean 'Nny' as nickname or LJ-title 'villainny'?

Date: 2007-01-27 02:00 am (UTC)1) You know the drill.
2) "Paperback Writer," by the Beatles. Also "Brand New Key," by Rasputina. Also "It's a Jolly Holiday With Mary." If you could somehow do a mashup of those three . . .
3) You have a glittery inside. *firm* Don't deny it. It's true.
Also, you have tremendous courage in writing, and do not deny this either. And I trust you to tell me 'no' when it needs to be said.
4) I have no idea what my first memory of you is. But my first clear memory is flying eyeball fetuses in New York.
5) Wild raspberries. Actually wild, not the kind that they stick on the labels of chapstick and things.
6) What was the first thing you remember writing? (Things for school, obviously, don't count.)

Date: 2007-01-27 02:10 am (UTC)2) *eyes icon* "What If God Was One Of Us?"
3) You should be a Philadelphia girl, yo. Also, you inspire me to new heights of genius.
4) First memory . . . I thought Lilly was Lily Potter. *confesses* That whole first thread. And then felt exceedingly stupid when I realized after. But my second memory is of Meg trying to set Lilly up with people around the bar, and the subsequent inauguration of the Emmy Awards.
5) MY LITTLE PONY. (They're animals! They count!) One with cherries as its theme, to incorporate both.
6) Of all Shakespeare villains, why Iago?

Date: 2007-01-27 02:22 am (UTC)2) Rufus Wainwright is indelibly patched with you in my head now, so, uh, anything by him. But also "Carry On My Wayward Son".
3) I would never have watched Supernatural if it were not for you. And if I ever finish the series (I will! Someday! It is totally on the list!) it will alllll be due to you.
4) EVIL MUFFINS.
I mean, I'm sure there are things that predate that, but that's totally what stands out.
5) Squirrel. But not just for the obvious reason! Also because you hoard things of cool, like nuts. :D
6) One book. Desert island. Standard scenario. *giggles*

Date: 2007-01-27 02:32 am (UTC)2) They Might Be Giants, "The Statue Got Me High." You know why.
3) You watch the sky like I do.
(It is easier for you, however, as you are tragically closer to it than I am. *sulks at your tallness*)
Also, it is so entertaining how you try to pretend to be saner than us. *pats you*
4) Lots of fuzzy ones, but the clearest early one I have is of Will and Moiraine doing Old One double-talk over Meg's head. Also, the clingchat that was Scorpyplot.
5) Rose hips. (Totally a fruit! You can, uh, candy them. And make tea from them.)
6) What made you think of me for Rhea? *curious*

Date: 2007-01-27 07:15 am (UTC)2) "Dark Time," by October Project. But also "Lavender Blue."
3) You love books, and the power and the original strength of a story. Really love them. And I find that absolutely fantastic.
. . . also, you seem to enjoy blaming things on me a lot, and I really can't imagine why. :O
4) My first memory is of seeing Amy in the bar and going "EEEEEE!" And then stalking her threads for a while before eventually tagging you - or you tagged me, I don't remember which - and then there was a moment over IM of "I've been meaning to tag you for ages!" "No, I've been meaning to tag you!" And thus, history was born. *dramatic*
5) Strawberries. Preferably with scones and cream.
6) I don't think I've ever asked . . . how did you first come to Milliways?

Date: 2007-01-27 08:27 am (UTC)1) You, also, were friended by me for purposes of locked-postiness. I think. I could be totally wrong about that. See above re: memory being gone!
2) "Guy Fawkes' Day." I - am pretty sure I got it from you, though I could be wrong, but either way.
3) You are wise in the ways of realistic animal behavior! And you are always eminently . . . common-sensical, even in the midst of awesome crack. I admire this immensely.
4) Hmmmmmm. I want to say the miniskirt-wedding is my first clear memory; I don't think we'd threaded before that. However, there was also Ace's awesome early influence on Mary, which stands out more clearly in my mind.
5) Tangerine! Wackier and more unique than oranges, and with a cooler name.
6) Where's the first place you would go, in a TARDIS of your very own?

Date: 2007-01-27 08:54 am (UTC)2) "Mordred's Lullabye," by Heather Dale. - too easy, you say? Well, also "Falcon in the Dive", from The Scarlet Pimpernel musical.
3) You have an incredible eye for things that are beautiful. Obviously I notice it most in iconage, because . . . pretty! But it's really very true all around.
4) La Oracle. And that thread with dancing and Mordred and just . . . yeah, see above about the pretty. And I was uber-excited, because, good lord, I was talking to Mordred, and thinking "this is what is awesome about RP."
5) Totally a fox. For obvious reasons, yes.
6) So, what would Mordred be doing if he were in the world of the Wasteland?

Date: 2007-01-27 09:09 am (UTC)2) "I Want To Be Evil," from Kinky Boots. Oh yes. (Possibly because this current icon is a large part of the way you are embedded in my brain.)
3) I feel I would be remiss if I did not mention the fact that you are totally adorable. Also evil, of course, but . . . adorable. And very twirly.
4) Meg borrowing the Pensive from Tom is the first strong memory I have of really interacting with you, I think (for which I am still grateful! *grins*). However, if we're going real-time, your awesome bouncy greeting at Millicon, with bonus coloring. Bonus coloring wins everything.
5) Do the Gentlemen count? . . . A bobcat. Maybe a bobkitten! With a scary Yzma laugh.
6) Speaking of the Gentlemen, who is your second-favorite Buffy villain-of-the-week? Give reasons why, please!

Date: 2007-01-27 09:26 am (UTC)1) I am running of original way to say 'see above'. *sheepish*
2) "The Vampire Club," by Voltaire. Harth, obviously, but also evil vampire Shelley. She would so fit in.
3) I can so see why Shelley was your first character. You share with her sweetness and friendliness, and also a disconcerting habit of walking straight into evil. Of course, with you, the evil is usually of your own writing, so you're able to get out of it without being, you know, zombified . . . and you enjoy it a lot more.
4) Speaking of which: zombie!Shelley was definitely my first memory of you. And then I went back to read SGR, and was hooked, and started threadtackling, and thought you were awesome, and then we bunny-eared Tim! And then I knew that it was so.
5) Berries! Obviously. Juniper berries, maybe, because I do not know what rowan berries look like.
6) You probably can't answer this in a public forum, but Harth is not really quite sincerely dead, is he? Mary will miss him!
- also, what is your major/area of study? Because I look at all the classes you tend to be taking, and I wants, precious.

Date: 2007-01-27 09:44 am (UTC)2) "Scientist," by the Dandy Warholds. This is not at all Mikage-related, whyever would you ask?
Also, now, "Baa Baa Black Sheep."
3) I love books, but I really wish I could be fascinated by nonfiction the way you can. I want to learn what's inside them! But pushing myself through the prose tends to be more difficult, for me, and I'll usually put them aside in favor of the quick fix of a novel. (Yes, I am an addict.) I guess what I mean to say is that you're the kind of balanced and thoughtful reader I would like to be.
. . . and you can pull off a bright pink wig incredibly well.
4) Oh, man. The Arkham trip. And Grandfather Merriman. That still ranks among the RP highlights of my playing time at Milliways. I would also mention the awesome pink wig for IRL if I had not covered that above.
5) Sheep. Dignified, respectable, lawyerly sheep. Also an owl.
6) If you had to write a Crossover Monstrosity for Utena and Harry Potter, instead of DiR, how would you go about it?
This gets its own separate response.

Date: 2007-01-27 09:12 pm (UTC)2) "Nature Boy," the version on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
3) You are so cuddly! I want a plushie Caleb to carry about with me always. I would draw a handlebar moustache on it so it could plot properly. It would still not be a substitute, though.
4) Hee, I remember RP-arguments with Georgia over Todd and duels and things, back in the day. ALSO remember that time you came to visit me and I used great self-control and didn't murder you with an axe?
5) Red panda. Cuddly like panda bear, crafty like fox, red like War!
6) When are you coming to visit me again? :O

Date: 2007-01-27 09:29 pm (UTC)2) "It's Howdy Doody Time!" Also, the Magnetic Fields' "The Book of Love."
3) Your cooking posts make me incredibly envious - I don't have a kitchen here at school, and so I read them and I lust for ingredients and a stovetop and an oven and a fridge bigger than a shoebox. And the pics always come out looking so tasty!
Also, your taste in literature - but especially trashy comfort literature - is the best.
4) You know, I'm sure we'd threaded and talked before, and of course I knew who you were and was predictably terrified in an 'omgit'saMOD' fashion, but my first really clear memory of playing/interacting with you was when Bernard locked Meg up? *beams* GOOD TIMES.
5) *ponders* Pomegranate. Extremely cool and with about a million mythological and poetical references attached.
6) If I were going to read another Tom Robbins book (having already read SLWW, obviously) which should it be?
6)

Date: 2007-01-28 02:07 am (UTC)2) "Language," by Suzanne Vega. Also, "Jenny Wren." I know you know both these songs because I got them from you!
3) Any filks I have ever written are your fault, really. Because you are the filkmaster, and taught me all the skills of scansion and rhyme that I possess. *serene*
I also really kind of want to sit at your feet and beg for your music collection. Just saying.
4) The original Scorpy-group! All of us in a chatroom, and I had never talked to any of you guys before, and I totally thought your screenname was based off of 'Batman'. And then afterwards Meg and Andrew really talked for the first time, and you said "Heh, you know, he might end up with a crush on her," and I said "Hee! I think she'd think it was cute." And then we passed blithely on to other topics, oblivious to any ominous music that might have been playing in the background.
5) A blue Disney alien! (What. It's an animal.)
6) How did you first get into filking?
