skygiants: Princess Tutu, facing darkness with a green light in the distance (olivier says lol)

The reveal post for [livejournal.com profile] fma_ladyfest is up! And with that last bit finished, I guess I can finally take an official deep breath and say: WE ACTUALLY DID IT. AND DIDN'T DIE. (Gen and I have pretty much been shrieking and allcapsing at each other since yesterday nonstop about the fact that we actually pulled off a ficathon, oh my god, what is this.) And okay, as a mod-type person I can't really rec specific fics, but I humbly submit to you all that you should go read and admire EVERYTHING, because it is all seriously amazing. I haven't commented on anything yet because I want to comment on it all and that would have made it pretty obvious which fic I wrote (because there was nothing else obvious about the fic I wrote). But I will be doing that over the next few days!

For the record: I wrote A Girl Worth Fighting For, for [livejournal.com profile] izilen. Yes, the one with cross-dressing, bickering siblings, too much talking, and historical dorkery. To your inevitable shock at this reveal, I can only modestly respond that I am eternally unexpected and unpredictable. Like a ninja.

I also co-wrote Got One Hundred Steps To Go with Gen for [livejournal.com profile] yhlee. I BET YOU CAN'T GUESS WHICH OF US WROTE WHICH BITS. (Everyone who has ever read anything by either of us will be able to guess which of us wrote which bits. But if you need a hint, all the gorgeous parts are hers.)

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING NOT-ACTUALLY-COMPLETELY DIFFERENT: now that Ladyfest is done, I can commence freaking out over Yuletide!

Here are some of the things I am thinking about nominating:

Pumpkin Scissors (manga)
Legend (kdrama)
Laurence Yep - Dragon of the Lost Sea books
Zilpha Keatley Snyder - Libby on Wednesday
Gokusen (manga) (except [livejournal.com profile] futuresoon took care of this so maybe I don't have to? Does something need to be nominated more than once to make the final list?)
Diana Wynne Jones - Aunt Maria
Diana Wynne Jones - Time of the Ghost (I can't fill up ALL my nominations with neglected DWJ books, but I can at least take care of one or two!)
Ivanhoe (look, I am not going to actually request Brian/Rebecca fic, I have too many other things to request this year, but if someone else happens to see it there and makes that request for me, then, then that will happen. Um. Also I just think it is disappointing that this classic has apparently never been nominated at all! SERIOUSLY YULETIDE, WHAT'S WITH THAT.)

So uh as you can see I have some narrowing-down to do. THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

(In terms of what I am actually going to request, Pumpkin Scissors and Laurence Yep are both pretty solidly on my list; for the rest, I am dramatically waffling between Gokusen, Twelve Kingdoms, As You Like It, Libby on Wednesday, the yearly rare-Diana-Wynne-Jones request, and reprising my unfulfilled Capital Scandal and Bloody Jack requests from last year.)

Nominate Legend! Because I have actually seen one episode of that putting it ahead of most of your list.

Though by that logic I can also recommend Capital Scandal as have seen the first episode of that too. I have a terrible habit of watching kdrama pilots and then taking approximately five years to see the rest. (I was so proud of myself for finishing Coffee Prince this year! It only took me two years to do it!)

Congratulations on your ficathon!

I do believe a Yuletide fandom only has to have one nomination, and if it's in a rare enough fandom, it will make the cut. Conversely, it doesn't matter how many people nominate Harry Potter, it's still not rare enough.

Then, of course, it becomes a matter of people requesting versus writing.

*brofistbump*

I keep being amazed that the DWJ Howl stuff makes the list every year. I also laugh at some of the nominated fandoms because rare? Not really. I don't know if they're going to stick with the informal >10 years old rule either, but whatever happens, there will still be plenty of rare fandoms to choose from.

I'm kind of hoping Baccano! makes the cut again, but I won't be too sad if it doesn't. There are plenty of other ways to write it.

Speaking of Howl/Sophie, you both might enjoy [livejournal.com profile] flamebyrd's Dealing with Dragons (http://community.livejournal.com/girlsavesboyfic/14400.html), in which Howl is kidnapped by a dragon with an unusual collecting habit.

Congratulations on a successful Ladyfest! I am looking forward to reading the stories once I start making my way through the canon. ^_^

Seriously, you and Gen are awesome for organizing the Ladyfest! IT WAS GREAT. A fantastic experience besides, too.

Also: ahahahaha. I KNEW IT! I SUSPECTED YOU!!! Thank you so much for writing that fic and know that I am still lovehearting at it. From the title I knew I would love it, and then the content was basically everything I like! (Except, uh, shipping, but that was not the point of the fest anyway!)

*____* I wish I could write and participate on Yuletide (why is there not something like it for art?)! Although I likely won't have much to do with it, I am glad Gokusen is nominated! =D

Cross-dressing lady! Well, yes, although you are not the only lady of my acquaintance who was participating on ladyfest with a lot of love for cross-dressing ladies( even if you are probably the most obvious about it, haha). Seriously, I went: DRESSING LIKE A BOY? O-OMG. I feel that I am the LUCKIEST that I got you for fic-writer. The luckiest! (Hahaha. You succeeded. I had no idea you even knew of my existence)

HUH. I'll go check that out now! Thanks for the link!!
