skygiants: Princess Tutu, facing darkness with a green light in the distance (ooooh)

So for ages now I've been wanting to do a giant chronological Discworld reread from the beginning, and the beginning of the school year - with all its attendant stresses and brain workouts - is feeling like a really good time to wallow in thirty-odd comfort Pratchetts.

(For the record, this definitely doesn't mean I won't be reading anything else besides Pratchett. My to-read list is way too long for that, and over the past three years I've been trying to train myself into some good reading habits that I don't think I'll be losing. But in general as I throw my brain into grad school I will be cutting myself some more slack on how much of my free reading time I spend on pure brain candy, so, uh, if you're here for the deep thoughts, that may be an FYI. On the other hand, I cannot actually say that there were all that many deep thoughts to begin with, so . . . carry on, I guess! THIS WAS YOUR PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.)

Anyway, I read The Color of Magic and The Light Fantastic last week and I'll be posting on those soon, but it struck me to ask whether anyone else was interested in rereading along for discussion and lulz. If so, I might try to give myself more of a regular schedule with these - one Discworld review every two weeks, or something like that. (One every two weeks sounds reasonable to other people, right? I mean, they're super fast to read, but a bunch of my books have gotten lent out and scattered to the four winds since the glory days of my collection, so there will be some library hunting going on. Though at least I did get back all the ones I lent out to my friendly neighborhood FBI agent.)

Thoughts? Encouragement? Discouragement? Entirely unrelated but VERY HELPFUL distractions from the million and six mosquito bites I got on vacation in the wilds of upstate New York?

Sure, I'd be up for following along in the reread, but by no means don't force a schedule on my account.

Oh, speaking of lending things out, whatever happened to my DVDs? *grin*

Indeed. Well, hang on to them at least until I move, since, you know, I'll be moving.

The 24th. And no, much as I appreciate the offer, this move is being professionally orchestrated, so I don't think I'll need help.

Eventually, I will be throwing a housewarming, of course.

Sounds like fun, though I guarantee nothing schedule-wise!

Ooh, yay! I look forward to reading the thoughts, discussions, etc that will spring out of this project!
