HELLO FRIENDS!

Brief update: got to Chicago safely; got back safely; had amazing time; did not want to leeeeeeave!; am currently ensconced chez chaos_pockets; am having feet pounced by kitten of chaos_pockets, who = CUTEST THING EVER; read That Book, will relate opinions in comments if anyone desperately cares.

Also, I now have sparkly toes and fingers.

Think that covers it.

Fair, since I totally just went back and read all yours. *giggles*

Opinion: I really liked it, for the most part! I loved Ron and I loved the Ron development; Lupin's storyline bothered me a little (even apart from, you know, the end), because it ignored all the character traits that I most loved about him; JKR still does not know how to write romance, especially first-person (inexplicably, he thought of Ginny! Huh!) but she is good at writing platonic teenaged banter, so, yay!; I cannot express how glad I am that Dumbledore got complicated backstory, no matter how late in the game it seems to throw it in, because Saintly Dumbledore has always made me want to kick him; the epilogue just made me laugh and want to pat JKR on the head.

Also, I know a lot of people were bothered by the Extended Snarly Quest Scenes in the middle, and they did get a little long, but I am really glad that the difficulties of things like hunger and cold and being dead-end trapped in one place for a long time and how that wears on someone were gone into, and not just brushed over. All it was missing was commentary on the lack of available bathrooms!

And . . . yeah. Lupin has always been one of my favorites because he actually manages to remain calm, kind, and reasonable in the face of great great stress! This is something that is rare in the HP books!

Exactly! It was always my opinion that he was fucked in the head, so it is pleasing to me that it is justified. :D
