Sometime this weekend I'm going to put up an actual Deep Space 9 episode post, but in the meantime I just discovered these notes from a conversation between me and Debi in a notebook on my laptop from who knows how many months ago:

DEEP SPACE RECREATION

- Odo and Ben love each other. But they're TOTALLY NOT FRIENDS. Batman doesn't have friends. But they love each other.
- Ann is conflicted about sleeping with Bashir, because he's her boss; sleeps with him anyway; breaks it off because she's uncomfortable being in an open relationship that involves a war criminal [note: if memory serves the war criminal part refers to Garak]
- Jadzia hits on Ann all the time but she never notices because she's so used to Leslie. It's so nice to have a normal friend!
- THE O'BRIENS AND THE GURGICHES HAVE SO MANY BORING DINNERS TOGETHER [note: to be honest I think this is the best and most accurate part of the post]
- Jake and Nog buy all their clothes from Tom
- Ron likes Odo. Then Ron finds out Odo believes in 1984-style surveillance all the time. Ron does not like Odo.
- Sisko hates Leslie. AND EVERYONE.

As I was putting this up on Tumblr though I was like "why does Kira not appear in these notes? Why do APRIL AND DONNA not appear in these notes? We fell down on the job, man, we fell down!"

But Miles is the only working class man in Star Trek!

Keiko is a biologist and Miles is an engineer and they have 2.5 kids and a computer-program dog! Miles individually may be the only working class man on Star Trek, but Miles and Keiko as a unit form the most middle-class family on Deep Space Nine.

Surely that's the Siskos? Benjamin practically lives to give dinner parties!

Miles and Jerry perfect the previously theoretical perpetual motion machine. It's then used to power a local merry-go-round and quietly forgotten.

Barbeques! Beer! Jerry's daughters babysitting Molly and Yoshi while the four parents go out on date nights!

Also, Chris Traeger and Bashir would be exercise buddies, and they'd both be delighted they found another person who they can physically compete with on an even level.

Quark feels like Ben is one of the few hu-mons who really gets it, it being money and how it works. But then he's all, "Did I tell you about the time I accidentally bankrupted my colony and everyone hated me?" And Quark's like, "Dude, we don't talk about that sort of thing in public. There are CHILDREN here*."

* By "children" he means Rom.

This is how Ben earned the moniker of "Ben Wyatt: Hu-mon Disaster."

Ah, excellent! I've been doing a rewatch, and just this week got caught up to last month's post. So I was hoping another would go up soon.

Also I'm not at all sure who about half of those names in the notes are.

Also also one of these days I really need to swap a Trek icon back in.

That is because half of these names are from Parks and Recreation! Wacky crossover brainstorming: the most incomprehensible kind of brainstorming if you only happen to know one of the canons involved.

Aha. Yes, the only thing tag-linked to Parks and Recreation in my brain - as a canon, rather than a concept - is Tina Fey. And that, I think, only because of some kind of tangential something-or-other from her Sarah Palin imitation.
