For a little while I've been considering stealing an idea from kate_nepveu and running a playlist exchange.

... and now I am done considering it and have decided indeed to do it!

The rules:

- everyone inputs prompts and some info about the kind of music they like and how they like to listen to it
- I will match everyone up with someone else's prompts/signup
- I will also make public the prompts of anybody who said they were OK with it so people can make more playlists to prompts if they want
- everyone has about a month to make playlists, which will be due on January 30th
- I email out everyone's playlists to their recipients (and also share them centrally for those who are OK with that)
- ideally, everyone profits!

Do you have to have Spotify to play?

Not at all, a couple people have specifically requested not spotify actually -- gonna do my best to match people on tech preferences for music sharing as well as requests!

I am being a bit thick, but what is the difference between prompts and the info about the music I like?

Not thick at all! I'm thinking of the difference as, like, themes vs. styles -- a prompt might be 'the ocean' or 'affectionate murder' or 'a playlist about Star Trek', while the music tastes section might be more like 'I have strong positive feelings about songs in waltz time and strong negative feelings about disco, and also Lorde and I have a childhood enmity going back to an incident I'm legally required not to disclose so please don't use any of her songs' -- but those things could definitely overlap ('songs in waltz time' is actually a prompt I might use when I get round to doing my own signup now that I think of it.)
