So anyone else watching the new Avatar episodes as they come out?


SOKKA IN THE TENT. *DEAD MULTIPLE TIMES OVER* (Also full of hilarity: the summary dismissal of the mob of secondary characters. EXCEPT SUKI.)

"Is it your turn to take a field trip with Zuko?" "Yes!"

Katara and Zuko's new clothes: not at ALL symbolic. Where did they get them, anyways?

. . . I did not expect the bloodbending to come back before the season finale. Or without a lot more ethical agonizing, at least. I think I might have liked a little more of a buildup, considering.

However: Aang, Zuko has a point. (This was also the first actual execution that we've seen, right? It's almost always imprisonment in this world.)

P.S. Tiny Sokka = most adorable.

I thought I was not going to be able to see it until tomorrow! Thank goodness for late night Nick reruns.

I don't think we were supposed to see Katara's use of bloodbending as really morally correct, given how it as so repeatedly stressed that she was full of rage and capable of things she normally would question. Though it's also important to note that as much crap as Katara gives Zuko (and for good reason), she's also been known to skirt moral boundaries, probably more so than Sokka or Aang.

And yeah, they seem to avoid having characters outright kill each other. They kept making it sound like she'd just disappeared and was presumed dead, but the last retelling made it clear that wasn't the case.

Also: "So, can I borrow Momo?"
"Why?"

Oh yeah - I don't think we were meant to see it as morally correct at all. Just, I thought we'd see more issues from Katara herself, considering how resistant she was to the concept in the first place, and how even learning to use it to save herself was a blow to her moral confidence - I sort of figured it was going to be one of the Big Ethical Things in the finale, having to use it. (Katara totally skirts moral boundaries, but she always totally thinks she's right to do it.)

Speaking of 'The Puppeteer', that's one of the episodes where you really see it the most. "Here's a lady who's just escaped from our most hardcore waterbender prisons! Who can control us all! We'll just . . . take her back to prison. Yeah." The only character I remember seeing attempt real, deliberate murder before is Azula (and the Fire Nation in abstract, but usually in a 'in the past' kind of way), and Jet I think is the only main character to die.

HAHAHA yes. I love Sokka more every episode.
