Sep. 25th, 2007 12:28 pmSorry, y'all who are sick of reading/skipping past Heroes posts. IT IS A GENETIC IMPERATIVE.
Overall, this is about what I expected from spoilers - a mix of things that are OMG AWESOME, things that make me crack up, and things that I eye warily and cross my fingers and hope that they fix.
So, by category!
OMG AWESOME:
BENNET AND NOAH. BEST TEAM EVER. Oh man. I was all set to make jokes about Mohinder constantly allowing the evil folk to take him out for drinks, and then it would have gone in the 'cracking up' category, but this is genuine awesome. Mohinder has learned! Also, you know that Bennet totally went to himself, 'you know, evil people always want to take Mohinder out for drinks. How can I use this?' Because Bennet is just that cool.
ANDO (AND KEITO). Oh, Ando, I love you so much. You are the best hero ever, powers or not, and don't let anyone tell you different. So loyal! So determined! Such bizarrely tall hair! Keito dying was sad, but I get it - Sulu popping up is kickass, but he's so very kickass that he kind of distracts from other things that actually have to do with the plot. They better tell us what his power was, though.
CLAIRE. There were serious issues with the representation of high school, but Claire herself, her heroic impulses and the way she constantly forgets the self-preservation that 'normal' people need to think about constantly - I love her better and better all the time.
CRACKING UP:
MOLLY HAS TWO DADDIES. . . . . you knew I was going to find it hilarious. I knew I was going to find it hilarious. The producers probably knew that the whole world would find it hilarious. I don't care. And I love how Matt wants to be the best dad that he can, and . . . doesn't know how to do that except by feeding her pizza. It is so very Matt and his 'I will hear what you want and do it and that will fix everything!' way of dealing with interpersonal issues - which, honestly, is why I can have the divorce make sense in my head. He doesn't deal with things; he just tries to make people happy, and the issues are all still there.
THE PAPER COMPANY. I am the easiest sell on the face of the planet. It's poetic justice! And . . . it really is; I almost wish that Bennet hadn't gotten the jump on that guy at the end, because awesome as Bennet is, and he is still being awesome, it's what he deserves to know how it feels to be low-class management in the real world. And to have to deal with it.
THE BEARD THAT ATE NATHAN'S FAAAAAAAAAAACE.
. . . I don't think I need to say more.
EYEING WARILY:
The new characters we got. More women of color is a good thing! There is great potential for cool. But . . . I feel like we've seen this storyline before, with a woman having dangerous powers that she couldn't control unleashed in a situation of specifically sexualized violence, and it was called Niki, and it wasn't handled particularly well. I want to see a female character who owns her powers, and who has awesome powers, and is not defined by her gender. I am hoping, from spoilers, that we'll see that next episode. But I am really hoping that Maya gets some of that too.
Takezo Kensei. . . . . yeah. It had better be Hiro doing the actual saving, is all I can say.
West. West is creepy. And a stalker. I don't care if you can fly, using it to look into teenage girls' bedroom windows? Not. Cool.

Date: 2007-09-25 10:15 pm (UTC)(Mohinder COOKS! Clearly this is his defensive mechanism against creepy people offering to take him out to dinner.)

Even though it was awesome . . .
